Youth Makers Markets

Empowering our next generation of artists.

The Youth Makers Market is held at the Watauga Farmers Market on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from May through October. They also vend at the First Friday Art Crawl each month. We provide opportunities for them to sell at other events throughout the year as we are able. Youth must be registered to participate.

Explore the world of entrepreneurship.

Youth Makers Markets provide an exciting opportunity for young artists in and around Watauga County to explore the world of entrepreneurship while selling their craft. Created by the Watauga Arts Council, these markets empower kids to take the lead in selling their artwork while learning valuable business skills along the way!

Grow as an artist.

At the Youth Makers Markets, the children manage everything from inventory and pricing to customer interactions and sales. Through experience, youth discover how to set up, market their products, and communicate with customers, helping them develop skills to grow as both artists and entrepreneurs.

Ongoing Opportunities

First Friday Art Crawls

One of the most popular opportunities for Youth Makers is participating in First Fridays each month. On these lively arts nights, young artists set up their booths at designated spots downtown and showcase their artwork to a bustling crowd. It’s a great chance for kids to engage with the community and practice their entrepreneurial skills in a vibrant, art-filled environment.

Farmers Markets

Additionally, from May to October, Youth Makers can take part in the Farmers Markets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Kids are given their own corner to sell their work from 8am to noon, offering them an excellent opportunity to connect with customers and experience the dynamic atmosphere of the community market alongside other vendors.
