Clay for a Cause: Brain Tumor Awareness @ The Pottery Lot

Clay for a Cause: Happening on Tuesday, May 19th at The Pottery Lot

After a deeply meaningful inaugural event last year, The Pottery Lot will host its second annual Clay for a Cause: Brain Tumor Awareness event on Tuesday, May 19, continuing what has quickly become a powerful community tradition centered on creativity, connection, and support.

Held each year on May 19 in recognition of Brain Tumor Awareness, the event invites participants of all skill levels to come together through hands-on pottery while raising funds and awareness for those affected by brain tumors.

The event was originally inspired by studio owner Emily Roberts’ personal experience with a brain tumor diagnosis and emergency surgery just days before opening The Pottery Lot. What began as a way to give back has grown into an annual gathering that brings together individuals, families, and supporters from across the community.

Participants can choose from three hand-building pottery sessions offered throughout the day: 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, 3:00-5:00 PM, and 6:00-8:00 PM. The cost is $35 per person, with 100% of class fees donated to support brain tumor awareness, research, and care.

In addition, all pieces created during the event will be donated and featured in a special gallery, where 100% of proceeds from sales will benefit brain tumor-related organizations. A portion of gallery sales from the day will also be contributed.

Community members who have been affected by brain tumors are invited to reach out in advance, as The Pottery Lot hopes to recognize and honor individuals and families throughout the day.

The event will take place at The Pottery Lot, located at 5014 NC-105 in Boone/Vilas. Learn more and register on the Pottery Lot’s website today!
