General Artist Opportunities
University of North Carolina, Greensboro
Artists are invited to register for the Southern Entrepreneurship in the Arts Conference, an artist-led conference that will present entrepreneurial strategies and resources for emerging and mid-career artists as well as students to help create new opportunities. The conference will take place Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Elliott University Center at UNC Greensboro. Registration fee applies.

ArtCorps, Ispwich, Mass.
ArtCorps is accepting residency applications from artists interested in art for social change. ArtCorps artists use theater, storytelling, music, digital media and other creative facilitation techniques to educate and inspire people to participate actively in improving the environmental, health and social conditions in their communities. This year’s residencies (June 2012 through June 2013) will take place in Belize and Guatemala.

Performing Artists/Presenters
VSA International, Washington, D.C.
VSA International is accepting applications for the Young Soloists Award, given annually to up to four outstanding musicians (ages 14 to 25) who have a disability, two from the U.S. and two from the international arena. The award provides an opportunity for these emerging musicians to each earn a $5,000 award, professional development opportunities and a performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Working Artist.org
Applications are being accepted for the Working Artist Music Award grant, a small monthly purchase award to help talented musicians, bands, singer-songwriters, producers and composers in all genres meet their objectives. Application fee applies.

New England Foundation for the Arts, Boston, Mass.
The French-U.S. Exchange in Dance (FUSED) is an ongoing partnership between the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in collaboration with the French American Cultural Exchange. Applications are being accepted from any U.S. nonprofit presenting institution seeking to support a residency or present a French dance artist/company’s work that is new or rarely seen in the U.S.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Baltimore, Md.
Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation announces the third round of USArtists International grant awards for performing arts projects taking place between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013. USArtists International provides support for American dance, music and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at significant international festivals or engagements.

Literary Artists
Raleigh Review, Raleigh
Raleigh Review’s NC Poetry on the Bus campaign, in conjunction with Raleigh’s Capital Area Transit, is now open to poetry submissions by N.C. poets and writers. Poems by N.C. writers will be placed on placards in several city busses during poetry month — April 2012. The goal for April 2013 is to have a poem on every capital city bus, and in 2014, the goal is to have poems by N.C. poets in city busses all year, every year.

Austin Community College, Austin, Tex.
The 2012 Balcones Fiction Prize, sponsored by Austin Community College, awards $1,500 for an outstanding book of literary fiction published between January 1 and December 31, 2011. Entry fee applies.

North Carolina Writers’ Network
The North Carolina Writers’ Network is now accepting submissions for its annual Doris Betts Fiction Prize, administered by the North Carolina Literary Review (NCLR). The Doris Betts Fiction Prize awards $250 and publication in the NCLR to the author of the winning short story of up to 6,000 words. The contest is open to any writer who is a legal resident of N.C., a member of the N.C. Writers’ Network or a subscriber to the NCLR. Entry fee applies.

Memoirs, Ink, Culver City, Calif.

Fayetteville Art Guild, Fayetteville

The Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) is calling all handcraft artists to apply for the 2012 festivals. The spring festival will be held Thursday, May 10, through Sunday, May 13, and the fall festival will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, through Sunday, Oct. 21. N.C. Museum of Art, Raleigh
The N.C. Museum of Art requests original works of art to be considered for inclusion in Art of the Auction — a silent and live auction event to be held Saturday, April 14. Selected works will be on view in the museum’s East Building Friday, March 30, through the date of the event. Proceeds from Art of the Auction will benefit museum exhibitions and programs. One work will be selected as Best in Show and receive $3,000 from the N.C. Museum of Art Foundation Inc.

Teton County Library, Jackson Hole, Wyo.
Teton County Library announces a request for qualifications to create a new site-specific work for its lobby, currently under renovation. Three finalists will each receive a $1,200 honorarium to participate in a site visit and to develop a conceptual proposal. Preference will be given to artists with experience in LEED design principles, sustainable practices and the use of repurposed materials. Budget for the final project is $65,000.
