WAC Gallery Information for May 2007

Watauga Arts Council’s May exhibits in the Jones House Community Center galleries features the work of Emma Vought in the main gallery and Two Rivers Community School group in the upstairs gallery. Emma’s charcoal drawings deals mainly with the human figure with a focus on portraiture. The artist plays on the positive and negative space and the use of implied line. She enjoys using charcoal because of its rich blacks and the personal feel it gives.

Two Rivers Community School is a charter school of comprised of children in grades kindergarten through eighth grades. The work in this exhibit represented the artwork of a number of children in the school.

Both exhibits are on display from May 1st – 25th, Tuesdays-Fridays from noon until 5 p.m., except on Thursdays when the galleries are reopened from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. when the house is open for acoustic jams. The gallery reception is Friday, May 4th from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and will be held in conjunction with the Downtown Boone Art Crawl.
